fvlavenderroom Weekly Wednesdays

Gaming nights.

Colouring, Reverse colouring and Dot-to-dot books.

Colouring, Reverse colouring and Dot-to-dot books.

On an average group night we offer board games. We have Jenga, Monopoly, One-word, Friends Trivial pursuit, The Labyrinth, Uno and Uno reverse. This collection grows as we gain new funding and donations.

On our gaming evenings we have access to a projector where we can plug in consoles brought along by group members. These nights also mean you can bring your own consoles and play with our members within group. You never know, this may lead to more online gaming friends.

Come along et involved and talk to new people over a common goal. Winning the games.

On our social media pages we post the winner of the game from that evening as a prize. The winner gains bragging rights amongst the group for that week.

We believe quite strongly that busy hands give you the ability to talk more freely and feel more comfortable in a space.

This is where the colouring books come into play. If you come along and feel the need to relax with a colouring book or by doing a dot-to-dot we have them on hand for you. These are usually set up on tables of two which allows you to get comfortable chatting one on one with the person sitting across from you before getting immersed in the wider group.

Group Discussions

Group Discussions

We often begin these discussions naturally throughout most weekly meetings but on occasion we plan a group discussion about topics facing the LGBTQ+ community.

In past weeks we have discussed Trans healthcare and how this has affected our members. During this conversation we had members willing to educate others on their experiences with the healthcare systems in Scotland. Throughout the discussion those who were less familiar with the topic asked questions politely and were courteous.

Other topics have included politics, relationships and labels.

Arts and crafts

Sessions from workers.

Group Discussions

We have a close partnership with various arts organisations within the Forth valley.

Funding dependant we get involved in different creative sessions.

The group have done sculpture sessions, ariel dance sessions, painting and pastel sessions.

Our volunteer team also all have their individual skill set such as employability, creativity and LGBTQ+ training. This  means we can run various sessions for our members in the Room.

.

As the group is for adults, you will all come with your own skill sets and knowledge. This means that our sessions can be ran by members also should you wish to share within the group.

.

Everyone has a skill and if you are given time to show others in a safe environment we hope it will encourage you to see just how valuable you are.

I learned so much in a safe environment. We have all had such different experiences in finding ourselves and it was interesting and meaningful to hear, those who shared journey this far and continuing.”

I'm not out anywhere else as myself. It took me a few weeks attending to feel confident in sharing my name and pronouns. When i did, no one batted an eye they just accepted me as i am.
